Summary
My job is to convert a business need into an appealing and user-friendly web prototype, ready for design and integration: wireframes, navigation tree, site map, functional specification documents…
So, a few words about the complete UX development cycle:

Step 1: Clearly determine your business objectives and the target audience
What do we want to achieve?
Sell, inform, promote, acquire…? Carefully identifying the business objective to achieve online is essential, yet too often overlooked.
Who are we targeting?
Whether it is accomplishing a task or getting a piece of information, speed and simplicity are of essence. To what is our target clientele sensitive?
Understand your business needs, the industry standards, and the online competition will drive the design, the content, and the functionality. My business background can help.
Step 2: Identify the technology environment and constraints
Are you using a CMS, web portal software? How customizable is your system?
Granted, technology is a commodity. It also is the source of most budget exceeding. Understanding the technical environment allows to minimize the cost while making the development as flexible as possible. My technical background can help.
Step 3: Know the human–computer interaction
Who are the different users and what do they really need?
In other words, get the information from the horse’s mouth. No need for costly focus groups. A couple of one-on-one interviews with staff members and selected clients usually bring valuable indications. My communication background can help.
Step 4: Design the best interface possible!
We now know where we are going. Time to build the prototype and give your developers the support tools they need.
